WPTV ran a segment on us this past weekend. We served 36 families at the Lord's Place Saturday. It was a joyful event. We met so many powerful people, mostly single moms, who;s stories were riddled with hardship but who were rising up, with the gracious love and support from the Lord's Place, and who's hearts were genuinely joyful.
The Brigade is entering its second weekend of deploying out into the community to serve, love on, and share the joy and hope that Christmas brings to those in need. This year we are serving 59 families including homeless, special needs, teen moms, and Bahamian relief families. We are already seeing tears of joy to some very worthy people, and especially the single mothers who pour everything they have into their children. In addition to providing Christmas (decorations and gifts), we provide additional support as best we can and base don the need. For example last weekend we delivered a living room, dining room, and bedroom dresser to a single mother of one with a baby due in February. They were living on mattresses on the floor. This weekend we will serve another 45 families.
My parents always lit up our home at Christmas. The warmth, glow, happiness, and hope it gave me still lives in me. My hope for the LW Brigade is that we can do the same for others.
